On 30 March 2026, as part of a working visit to Nanning, China, a delegation from the Faculty of Food Technology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, paid a visit and held working sessions at Guangxi University (GXU). The programme included exchanges with specialized units, a courtesy meeting with the University leadership, and a working session with the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, thereby opening up promising prospects for cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of training, scientific research, faculty and student exchange, and the development of international academic programmes.

Within the framework of the working visit to Nanning, China, on 30 March 2026, the delegation from the Faculty of Food Technology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Head of the Department of Postharvest Technology, Faculty of Food Technology, and Mr. Nguyen Trong Thang, M.Sc., lecturer of the Faculty of Food Technology, visited and worked at Guangxi University (GXU).

During the programme, the delegation from Vietnam National University of Agriculture paid a courtesy visit and presented gifts to Professor Yu Wenjin, Vice President of Guangxi University. This activity reflected the spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and the shared desire to strengthen cooperation between the two higher education institutions, both of which possess strengths in the field of agriculture.

Professional exchanges with academic units of Guangxi University

At the working session, the delegation from the Faculty of Food Technology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, visited and exchanged informations with representatives of the leadership of the College of Agriculture, the College of Animal science and technology, and the College of light industry and Food engineering of Guangxi University.

During the meeting with the College of Agriculture, the two sides shared information on their respective strengths in training, research, and development orientations in the fields of agronomy, crop production, and postharvest technology. Representatives of Guangxi University also introduced several upcoming academic activities related to China–ASEAN cooperation, viewing these as favourable opportunities to expand professional connections, co-organize workshops, and promote academic exchanges between lecturers and scientists of the two universities.

In the exchange with the College of Light industry and Food engineering, the two sides focused on discussing the possibility of establishing direct cooperation mechanisms between their specialized units, promoting the signing of memoranda of understanding at faculty level, jointly organizing thematic workshops, strengthening faculty and student exchanges, and gradually developing joint research activities in the fields of food technology, preservation, and agricultural product processing.

With regard to the College of Animal science and technology, discussions centred on strengths in training, applied research, and orientations for building a cooperation platform in the fields of animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, food safety, and research linkages to serve practical production needs. Both sides agreed that this is an area with considerable potential for developing more in-depth cooperation models in the coming period.

Working session with the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Guangxi University

Participating in the reception and working session with the delegation from Vietnam National University of Agriculture were Mr. Liao Wendan, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Assoc. Prof. Chen Bilan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Ms. Gong Weihua, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Prof. He Jiakan, Vice Dean of the College of Animal Science and Technology; Prof. Wang Chenghua, Vice Dean of the College of Light Industry and Food Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Li Bojun, lecturer of the College of Agriculture; along with other relevant staff and lecturers. The working session with the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Guangxi University was chaired by Mr. Liao Wendan.

At the meeting, the delegation from Vietnam National University of Agriculture provided an overview of the University, its key training and research areas, and discussed orientations for expanding international cooperation based on the Memorandum of Understanding already signed between the two institutions. Guangxi University also shared extensive information on its scale of education, research capacity, international cooperation network, scholarship programmes, experience in receiving international students, and its orientation toward strengthening cooperation with universities in the ASEAN region, including those in Viet Nam.

Through the discussions, the two sides reached preliminary consensus on several key directions for cooperation, including:

• Strengthening delegation exchanges, as well as faculty and student exchanges, in the fields of Agronomy, Food Technology and Postharvest Technology, Animal Husbandry, and Veterinary Medicine.
• Coordinating the organization of international scientific workshops and seminars, particularly activities associated with China–ASEAN cooperation.
• Promoting the signing of cooperation documents at faculty level as a foundation for long-term implementation.
• Developing short-term exchange programmes, summer camps, academic exchanges, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
• Enhancing scientific research cooperation, establishing joint research groups, exchanging scholars, and jointly implementing research topics and projects.
• Expanding scholarship and postgraduate training opportunities, thereby enabling students, trainees, and doctoral candidates from both sides to access international academic environments.
• Promoting cooperation in a manner that integrates training with research and application, while responding to the practical needs of the agricultural sector and enterprises.

At the meeting, both sides reaffirmed that expanding cooperation between the two agricultural universities in the region is of great significance in the context of agriculture’s strong transformation toward modernization, sustainability, innovation, applied research, and international integration. Both institutions highly appreciated each other’s potential for cooperation in high-quality human resource training, academic exchange, scientific research, and technology transfer.

The visit and working sessions at Guangxi University were practical and meaningful activities, contributing to stronger mutual understanding, the expansion of the international cooperation network of Vietnam National University of Agriculture, and the creation of a foundation for both sides to further concretize areas of cooperation through substantive programmes, plans, and implementation activities in the coming period. Through this programme, Vietnam National University of Agriculture continues to affirm its orientation toward strengthening international integration, improving the quality of training, scientific research, and technology transfer, thereby contributing to the goal of developing modern, efficient, and sustainable agriculture.
